The Investment Banker Who Financed the Meier Material, Traveled to Switzerland, Entered the Contact World and Became Our Friend

George Green lived several lives inside one lifetime. Before extraterrestrial contact became the subject for which many people knew him, he moved through banking, securities, insurance, real estate development, and the financial world, where he said his work brought him into contact with wealthy investors, political figures, and people who operated close to the centers of economic power. Long before we knew him, however, another experience had already placed a question in the back of his mind that would eventually redirect the course of his life.
George traced that beginning to Edwards Air Force Base in 1958, during an era when the United States pushed aircraft toward the edge of space, and Edwards stood at the center of some of the most advanced aerospace experiments in the country. Decades later, when George became our friend and appeared on our programs, he returned again and again to the extraordinary event he said occurred there, because it provided the foundation for everything that followed.
Years after Edwards, a book of Billy Meier photographs triggered George’s memory of the craft he had seen, and that recognition drew a successful businessman into one of the most famous and controversial extraterrestrial-contact cases of the twentieth century. George did considerably more than read the books or visit Switzerland as a curious investigator. By his own recorded testimony, he put up money for the publication of Meier material, financed a related film effort, became embroiled in a dispute over repayment and publication rights, traveled to Switzerland to meet Billy himself, spent time at the Meier compound, examined material there, and attempted to help bring the story before a larger public audience.
Eventually George and his wife, Gillian, entered our lives as well, and what began at a conference in Laughlin, Nevada, became a friendship that continued through years of conferences, broadcasts and private conversations.
This is George Green’s story as he told it to us, together with the part of that story that Sasha and I witnessed ourselves.
EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, 1958
George said he joined the United States Air Force while still young and worked in airborne communications and electronics before receiving an assignment to Edwards Air Force Base, the Air Force research and development center in California’s Mojave Desert. His duties brought him into the world of experimental aircraft, and he recalled work on post-flight inspections of the X-15, the rocket-powered research aircraft that became an important precursor to later spaceflight programs.
One hot morning during the last week of August 1958, George said he completed his work around the X-15 and still needed to put additional mileage on the Jeep assigned to him before returning it. He drove toward a pair of remote hangars north of the main base and entered one he had not previously visited.
Inside stood a large circular craft.
George estimated that he came within approximately ten feet of it and, because Edwards contained so many experimental vehicles, initially assumed that he was looking at another classified American aerospace project. When he returned and asked when he might be assigned to work on the circular vehicle, he said his commanding officer told him that it was an ion-powered craft designed by Sikorsky for use in outer space.
The explanation intrigued George rather than satisfying him. He later approached a friend who worked as a base photographer and asked for photographs of the unusual craft. According to George, the photographer asked what he had been told about it, then took him into the photo laboratory and showed him the pictures.
That was when the story changed.
George said the photographs included images of two dead non-human beings associated with the craft, which he compared in appearance with the small beings later popularized as Greys. The distinction matters because later retellings can easily blur what George actually claimed: George said he personally saw the spacecraft from approximately ten feet away, while he saw the dead occupants in photographs shown to him by the base photographer.
Upset that his commander had apparently misled him, George confronted him and received a lengthy reminder of the obligations attached to his top-secret clearance, including the possible penalties for revealing classified information. George said he kept quiet after that conversation and was transferred away from Edwards several weeks later, eventually serving in Japan.
For more than two decades, the experience remained something George did not discuss publicly.
Then a book appeared in his life.
1984: A BOOK BRINGS EDWARDS BACK
In 1984, George, involved in real estate development and having built a house in Aspen, encountered a large photographic volume titled UFO Contact from the Pleiades. The book contained photographs associated with Eduard “Billy” Meier, the Swiss contactee whose images of unusual disc-shaped craft had already begun to circulate internationally.
George said he stared at the photographs and recognized something he had not expected to see again. To him, the objects looked remarkably similar to the craft he remembered from Edwards Air Force Base.
After more than twenty-five years, the hidden episode at Edwards suddenly had a public counterpart.
George flew to Phoenix, where he met the American researchers and publishers involved with the Meier material. They told him they were investigating a man in Switzerland who claimed sustained contact with beings associated with the Pleiades, and George began examining their photographs and documents.
For him, the question was no longer abstract. He believed he had already seen comparable technology with his own eyes.
GEORGE FINANCES THE BILLY MEIER MATERIAL
This is where George Green’s role in the Billy Meier story becomes far more significant than many summaries acknowledge.
The American group told George that they wanted to publish more material but needed money. George responded that he would finance the publication himself.
He explained the arrangement very clearly during our interview: he would loan them the money necessary to publish the book, and once the books began selling, they could simply repay what he had advanced. He did not ask for interest because, as he explained it, his contribution was intended to help educate the public rather than generate a financial return.
Approximately 90 days later, George said he had received an accounting showing that the project had already generated roughly 3 times the amount he had provided, yet no repayment accompanied the report. He telephoned to ask what had happened to his money, only to be told that the people involved had discovered who he was and concluded he did not need it.
George was furious.
Whether he needed the money was irrelevant; repayment had been part of the agreement. He eventually involved his attorneys and filed suit.
In another of our interviews, George described the same financial arrangement and again said that he had offered to loan the money for publication because he believed the world needed access to the material. He also said he had financed a movie project connected with the Meier story.
George later told Sasha and me about this history in person as well. For us, therefore, the financial connection to Meier was never vague speculation about whether George might have helped with publication; it was part of the story George himself repeatedly told us.
GEORGE GOES TO SWITZERLAND
The financial dispute eventually pushed George toward a more direct solution: rather than continue dealing only with the Americans who controlled the publishing arrangements, he decided to meet Billy Meier himself.
George and his wife flew to Switzerland, rented a car in Zurich, and drove toward Meier’s property. George recalled arriving at the compound, knocking on the door and introducing himself as the American who had put up the money for both the film project and the publication of books about Billy.
He wanted answers, but he also wanted Billy to understand why he was there. George believed the Meier information deserved a wider audience and wanted to determine for himself what kind of person stood behind the photographs and stories he had helped finance.
The reception was not immediately warm. George said the people around Billy had become suspicious of Americans because previous visitors had obtained photographs and material, promised help, and then failed to fulfill those promises. George was initially turned away and decided that he and his wife would simply continue their trip.
The following morning, however, a woman associated with the compound arrived at their hotel.
George said she brought a two-page message signed by Quetzal, whom he identified as a Pleiadian commander, inviting them to return.
George later described the following week as an experience that overturned much of what he thought he knew about the world. He said he ultimately made an agreement with Billy and the extraterrestrial intelligences associated with the case to help bring information to humanity.
Whatever conclusion a reader reaches about Meier’s claims or George’s interpretation of what occurred in Switzerland, the importance of the journey to George’s own life is unmistakable. He arrived as a financier and investigator whose interest had been awakened by photographs that reminded him of Edwards, and he left convinced that he had entered a far larger relationship.
WHAT BILLY SHOWED GEORGE
One detail from George’s interviews settles another question that can easily become confused in retellings: Billy showed George material, not the other way around.
George recalled walking near Billy’s property and speaking with a farmer who described an extraordinarily tall humanoid visitor and showed him enormous footprints near his barn. George returned to the compound excited by what the farmer had reported, but Billy appeared far less impressed.
According to George, Billy simply shrugged, took him into a back room, and showed him plaster casts of small humanoid figures. Billy then referred to traditions concerning leprechauns and fairies, using the casts to illustrate his assertion that intelligent beings throughout the universe came in many sizes and forms.
George also recalled seeing physical evidence associated with a small weapon that was demonstrated in Switzerland and said he personally photographed holes in trees during the visit. In another interview, he described what he called a small ray-gun-like device and said he took photographs himself.
THE LEGAL BATTLE OVER THE MEIER STORY
George’s involvement did not end when he returned to the United States. One major obstacle remained: the people in Phoenix with whom he was already in conflict claimed worldwide rights to Billy Meier’s story.
George told Billy that this contractual problem had to be resolved before he could proceed with plans to bring the story to a larger audience. At the time, George maintained a house and office in Beverly Hills and retained attorneys who represented the Screen Actors Guild, which gave him confidence that they could address the rights issue.
George described walking into his attorney’s office and announcing that he had made a deal with a man in Switzerland and extraterrestrials to publish the truth about UFOs. His attorney may not have shared George’s worldview, but he agreed to investigate the contractual problem.
Several weeks later, George said his attorney had arranged for a judge willing to consider the case, but Billy would have to come to California to participate.
George telephoned Billy from the attorney’s office and offered to send him a ticket.
Billy declined.
According to George, Billy reminded him of photographs depicting a future earthquake that would devastate San Francisco, and Billy said he felt safe in Switzerland and had three children to consider. George therefore had to find another path forward.
The episode reveals how deeply George had entered the Meier story. He was no longer an observer looking at photographs. He had invested money, traveled to Switzerland, established a relationship with Billy, examined material there, and engaged attorneys in an attempt to restructure the legal rights surrounding publication.
THE TJ, EMANUEL AND ANOTHER PUBLISHING PROJECT
George’s time with Billy also introduced him to material known as the Talmud Jmmanuel, which George understood as an alternative account of the life and teachings of the figure traditionally known as Jesus.
George told us that Billy and a Greek priest named Rashid had been involved in the discovery and translation of the document. George said an initial English translation came into his hands and that he brought material back to the United States, where he sought evaluation from others before proceeding with publication.
He eventually published a version of the material himself, explaining during our interview that he considered it separate enough from the rights dispute surrounding the larger Meier story to proceed.
For George, the extraterrestrial question increasingly became inseparable from religion, human origins, consciousness and hidden history.
WENDELLE STEVENS AND THE WIDER CONTACT WORLD
Through his involvement with Meier, George became close to retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Wendelle Stevens, one of the most prolific investigators and collectors of international UFO-contact material of his era.
George said Wendelle possessed an extraordinary number of reports and documents but lacked the financial resources that George could bring to projects. Their friendship opened another door for George, who began traveling, meeting witnesses and examining contact accounts from many parts of the world.
George described acquiring thousands of pages of notes and material through these relationships while following reports involving many different alleged extraterrestrial groups.
The man who had once kept quiet about a circular craft at Edwards had now entered an international network of contact researchers.
THE HANDBOOK FOR THE NEW PARADIGM
George later became best known to many people not through Billy Meier but through Handbook for the New Paradigm, followed by Embracing the Rainbow and Becoming.
George presented these books as communications intended to awaken humanity from fear and what he called “victim consciousness,” encouraging readers to examine their own responsibility, thoughts, and relationship with a larger universe. He distributed electronic versions without charge and often gave physical books away at conferences.
His own Global Insights biography described him as a former investment banker, registered financial principal, broker-dealer, securities underwriter, real estate developer, insurance broker, and publisher, as well as president of Global Insights, Inc. It also described his mission as the publication of extraterrestrial information intended to “awaken” humanity.
By the later years of his life, George told us he had enormous quantities of books in storage and was more concerned with getting the material into people’s hands than extracting profit from it.
The financier had become a distributor of ideas.
HOW WE MET GEORGE AND GILLIAN GREEN
Our own relationship with George began because of Gillian Green.
Sasha and I first encountered George and Gillian in person at Paola Harris’s StarworksUSA Conference in Laughlin, Nevada, held at the Aquarius Hotel and Casino Resort. Our table stood in the center section of the conference room, toward the back, and I was sitting there with my head down, occupied with something on the table, when two hands suddenly came down in front of me.
A woman announced to George:
“Here, George. Here they are! This is what I’ve been searching for since I walked into this room.”
I looked up into Gillian Green’s enormous smile.
We started talking at once.
Within minutes, I told Sasha to watch the table, and Gillian and I marched out of the conference room, found somewhere to sit, and began comparing experiences, memories, and pieces of information with almost no introductory small talk.
Gillian told me that she had felt me from the moment she walked through the doorway. She had entered the conference room, sensed something she was searching for, and followed it until she found us.
Once we sat together, we chattered like chipmunks.
The feeling was not that of strangers becoming acquainted but of long-lost souls who had somehow found one another again after a very long separation. We moved rapidly between consciousness, contact, reincarnation, the Anunnaki, and our experiences, each new subject opening another door into the next.
Gillian recognized me as Ninmah, while she understood herself as an Anunnaki soul as well. For Gillian and me, that recognition helped explain why the connection felt immediate and why we could move into such intimate territory without the hesitancy that ordinarily accompanies a first meeting.
That encounter in Laughlin did not end when the conference ended.
YEAR AFTER YEAR
We kept meeting George and Gillian at StarworksUSA year after year, and the conference gradually became a reunion with friends rather than a place where we happened to see acquaintances from the UFO community.
George also joined us at the IUFO Conference, while our relationship continued through broadcasts, conference conversations, private discussions and the growing network of people who explored contact and consciousness during those years.
During one of our later Sacred Matrix programs, I introduced George on air as a dear friend and mentioned that we had recently spent time with him at StarworksUSA.
That friendship matters when we tell his story because we were not interviewing a stranger from a prepared biography. We knew George between interviews, heard stories before microphones came on, and discussed parts of his history that were never necessarily placed into the public record.
George told Sasha and me in person about financing the Billy Meier material and why that financial involvement led him to Switzerland, while our recorded interviews now preserve much of the same account in George’s own words.
GILLIAN GREEN: MORE THAN GEORGE’S WIFE
Gillian deserves much more than a supporting role in George’s biography.
She possessed her own extraordinary contact history, memories and spiritual understanding, and the immediate recognition between us became a story in its own right. She and I eventually appeared together on programs in which we explored some of those experiences, and those broadcasts will allow us to tell Gillian’s story in her own words rather than reconstruct it solely from memory.
Her story will become a companion to George’s within this series.
For now, however, it is important to understand that our friendship with George cannot be separated from Gillian because Gillian found us first.
She walked through that conference room in Laughlin, felt something she recognized, followed it across the room and put her hands down on our table.
Everything else grew from there.
GEORGE’S FINAL INTERVIEW WITH US
Years passed, and the conferences and broadcasts accumulated until George and Gillian had become woven into our lives.
Near the end of George’s life, cancer had taken a serious toll on him. He knew his remaining time might be short, and he called me to tell his story one more time.
We interviewed him.
That program carried a different weight from an ordinary interview because George was no longer simply appearing to promote a book or discuss a conference topic. He was reviewing the extraordinary arc of his life while he still had the opportunity to place it on record.
He spoke again about the financial world, Edwards Air Force Base, extraterrestrials, hidden political systems, his books, and the larger message he had spent decades trying to communicate.
Our 2019 program also confirms that we had already held several shows with George over the years, as I mentioned in my introduction before George began his story.
After George died, Gillian called me.
She told me that they had gone out together to eat, something they loved to do, and George died sitting in his chair.
That memory has stayed with me because after decades filled with stories about spacecraft, extraterrestrials, secret programs, world leaders, publishing battles and humanity’s future, George’s life ended beside the woman he loved after they had done something wonderfully ordinary together.
They had shared a meal.
For me, that moment belongs in the historical record just as surely as the craft at Edwards or the trip to Switzerland, because histories of contact too often reduce human beings to their most extraordinary claims and forget that they lived entire lives around those experiences.
George Green was never simply a UFO witness to us.
George and Gillian were our friends.
GEORGE GREEN AND 100 YEARS OF CONTACT
George occupies an unusual place in the history we are assembling because his story connects several periods that are often treated separately.
His 1958 Edwards experience places him inside the Cold War military era when unconventional aerospace technology remained intensely classified. His rediscovery of the subject through Billy Meier’s photographs in 1984 connects him to the great contactee and photographic cases of the twentieth century. His decision to finance Meier’s material placed him within the publication history of one of the field’s most famous cases, while his travels to Switzerland brought him into a direct relationship with Billy himself.
His friendship with Wendelle Stevens connected him with the international contact-research network, and his later work on Handbook for the New Paradigm shifted his focus from spacecraft to consciousness and human transformation.
Finally, his friendship with us connected George’s generation of contact research to our own work through Aquarian Media.
Seen this way, George Green was not merely one more name in UFO history. His life crossed the military, financial, contactee, publishing, consciousness and conference worlds, while his own interpretation of those experiences changed as he attempted to connect them into what he called “The Big Picture.”
One need not accept every conclusion George reached to recognize the historical value of preserving his testimony as he gave it. He was there at a particular time, moved through unusual circles, told his story consistently across years of interviews and left behind a body of material that deserves to be examined alongside the other witnesses who shaped the modern contact era.
For Sasha and me, however, there will always be another George Green beside the public figure.
There is the man we met after Gillian marched across a conference room in Laughlin and found us.
There is the friend we saw year after year.
There is the man who sat across from microphones and told us about Edwards, Billy Meier and Switzerland.
There is the friend who called near the end because he wanted his story heard one more time.
And there is Gillian’s voice afterward, telling me George was gone.
That is the George Green we remember.
GEORGE GREEN — BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE
George Green (1939–2019) was an American businessman, former investment banker, securities professional, real-estate developer, insurance broker, publisher, lecturer and UFO/contact researcher who became widely known for what he called “The Big Picture” and for his association with Handbook for the New Paradigm.
Public biographies issued through George’s own Global Insights organization identify him as a former investment banker, registered financial principal with the NASD, broker-dealer, securities underwriter, real estate developer, insurance broker, and publisher. They also identify him as president of Global Insights, Inc., a frequent radio and television guest and a lecturer who spoke to thousands of people about extraterrestrial contact and the information he believed humanity needed to understand.
