Deep in the glowing waters of Muralis, the underwater city of the Mercats, there was once only the Pulse—the ever-moving current of life. No one ruled, for all followed the ancient rhythms of the Deep. But then came the Awakening.
It began when Mariella, the eldest of the silver-furred seers, swam beyond the coral veil and heard the Ocean’s authentic voice—a song older than stars. She returned glowing with knowledge. The others gathered, each sensing something sacred stirring.
From this communion, twelve merkitties rose—six of each polarity, divine feminine and masculine. They formed the Circle of Twelve, known formally as the Council of Muralis, and affectionately as the Mercat Council. They met in the Chamber of Stillness, a pearl-shaped dome of light at the city’s heart, suspended in sacred waters. There were no thrones, only floating rings of light where they spiraled, purring wisdom, echoing the heartbeat of the sea.
They became the stewards of balance, the keepers of the Deep Remembering. Each brought a gift: currents, bioluminescence, healing, harmonics, dream vision, time-song. Together, they kept Muralis aligned with the greater Lemurien vision.
And so, two councils—one above, one below—linked not by command, but by resonance.
