7 days agoFifty years ago I worked for Pioneer Mill in Lahaina and was part of a crew that worked in the irrigation tunnel system under the sugarcane plantation, including this one in Lahainaluna. There are at least half a dozen similar tunnels in West Maui, all formerly used to bring irrigation water to the surface. I’ve worked extensively in all of them, something that very few people still alive can say…

5 days agoThis is some SERIOUS construction right here. I build fresh water and sewer pump stations for a living. Its challenging to pour a concrete structure 40′ below the surface in California. Let alone 300′ below the surface on an island right by the ocean where the ground water is probably 10 feet down. This is so weird I’m getting this recommended to me. If anyone has any questions on how all of this works just ask. Ive been building these things for years.
